Reading the “what car should you buy” today got me thinking. A little sub $5k pickup would be handy to have. So naturally, I jump on CL. The link Tom found actually fits the bill well. 4x4 would be nice, but I’ll honestly never use it. I think resale would be higher with AWD though.

But, I also really want a Vespa. Found a few late model 300cc scooters in the $4-5K range. I now work 9 miles on surface streets from home so a 70+ mph scooter would be hilarious for commuting.

I don’t neeeed either vehicle but I think both would be useful for totally different reasons. I don’t really want to shuffle 3 cars again. That’s why I sold my Miata. The Vespa could fit in the garage next to the other red Italian. The truck would be a great errand vehicle and I could use it to hit cool new paddle spots and bike trails.
Which you you rather have, OPPO? Another option would be a cheaper 150 cc or smaller Vespa AND a truck. My friends might have an intervention at that point though haha.

I would rather have a truck (because there’s no way I would ride a scooter around here). If you got a classic truck, you could insure it thru Hagerty for like $8 a month.
If I was you....maybe the scooter makes the most sense, since you could use it everyday (weather permitting), and keep it in the garage.

I think LA has on average ~329 days of sunshine a year. So I could definitely ride a lot. And cut in line up to every traffic light. A small pickup is always handy to have around though. Insurance I think would be cheap either way!

It looks very nice. And $3500 is almost in that eff it price range. Especially since you could probably keep it a year or two and sell it for the same price haha

Oh i know i could sell that for $7500 because the pickup market in Tennessee is stupid. Maybe you should buy it, drive it out to Tennessee to visit, then sell it and it’ll pay for the trip!

I like those little utes too. I saw one in Mexico last weekend. It’s the only car picture I took all weekend. I’ll have to dig it up.
